A quick look at says the postal service shows actual mpg of about 9 mpg (due to
start and stop).
So for a 200,000 miles at 9 mpg and $4/gal gives a gas cost of around $90,000.

so the extra price of the EV is most likely justified in the long run because
of the crappy mpg.
Postal Vehicles are probably a superb use case use for EV's.

I looked into the finances of the Post Office one time.   Basically they took
in as much money as they take in (including retirements) but for political
reasons the accounting changedand they were forced to show losses because they
weren't putting money away for the future obligations........Instead they just
kept going, pay as you go....
So they started showing large paper losses...but didn't change anything... It's
not like they all the sudden started to borrow money or anything and became
insolvent...they virtuallychanged nothing, but on paper they went from solvent
to insolvent overnight.

Anyway the point is that the post office is very politicized and if you really
want accurate details you have to dig for them...and not listen to a bunch of
politicians spouting half truths.

The current postmaster general, previously appointed by Trump in his first

to kill postal EVs entirely.

Also plans to kill the $7500 EV tax credit and water down ICEV fuel
efficiency standards.
