Hi Folks,
I guess Musk by donating $45/mo is hedging his bets for favoritism after the bombastic conman he's funding is anti EV's and RE, "drill-baby-drill" is his moto, announced a few days ago, seems like he's "donating" against his interest though. When Tesla (survey) asked me last week if I'd buy another Tesla-Y, I replied, maybe if Elon Musk *wasn't* running Tesla. I like the car (250KW charge rate) for the +12K fast chargers and 3500 pound towing capability (tows boat and solar panels 5x8 trailer for our volunteer club). We also have a Bolt for tight fits driving downtown but slow level 3 charging 50KW (not_the_best_trip_car). The Leaf is good for local trips. Each has its' purpose. I've never met an electric car I didn't like. Have a renewable energy day, Mark Mark E. It's nice to see a more positive take from Forbes, of all publications. What we're still *not* getting is an honest look at what EVs are up against - and growing in spite of. => MONEY. Though the gap seems to be shrinking, most EVs still cost more than their ICEV equivalents. => MONEY. US tax credits now cover fewer EVs. They'll probably end entirely in 2025. => MONEY. In Europe, 2024 first half EV sales were down 9% in Germany but up 8% in France. Guess which nation dropped its EV incentives. => THOUGHTLESS PR. Tesla sales are off partly because of the "Musk Effect," caused by a CEO who can't or won't control his obnoxious yapper. (And given the opinions of people who traditionally buy EVs, that's probably going to get worse now that Musk has very publicly, very loudly endorsed Donald Trump for president AND pledged 45 MILLION bucks a month to a Trump PAC.) And yet, overall, EV sales continue to grow. Though you'd hardly know it to read all the negative articles and the reports of Ford and GM cancelling and scaling back EV projects. So thanks to Forbes, and thanks to Phil for posting the link. David Roden, EVDL moderator & general lackey To reach me, don't reply to this message; I won't get it.
