Hi Dave etc,
Consumer Reports April 2024 shows more EVs sold 46 different types from various
manufacturers, some 4 different models from one manufacturer, like Kia ,
Hyundai. Everywhere I go, Nova Scotia , Iceland, Colorado, EVen Roanoke Va
and see many Teslas and other EVs EVerywhere. I’m in Charlotte NC right now at
a Marriott parked between 4 Teslas. Anecdotally, the future for EVs looks
bright to me. I was at our Power Company meeting last week and they’re monthly
putting EV generic ads in their electric coop magazine since the CEO told me
they’re selling less electricity due to Led lighting and EnergyStar appliances.
So looking to EVs to sell more juice.
Stay Charged,
Mark

The major news media are full of "the sky is falling" EV tales. To hear
them tell it, EV sales are in freefall, and "serious" automakers are rushing
to cancel EV projects.

You can almost see them rubbing their hands. These writers and editors have
been gleefully kneecapping EVs for over 3 decades.

Ars Technica sets the record straight:

https://arstechnica.com/cars/2024/06/ev-sales-slowdown-is-mostly-a-tesla-
problem-according-to-sales-data/

or https://v.gd/GYzzM4

Tesla's US sales are down for the year. But Tesla has reportedly reduced
prices in response, so let's just see about that.

Volkswagen is stumbling in the US with the ID4. But Volkwagen Group is
currently the #1 selling EV maker in Europe, where they offer MANY more
models than just the ID4, including more affordable ones.

GM is down 21% year on year. Not so coincidentally, IMO, they also no
longer offer a practical, affordable EV (the Bolt) in the US.

So is the sky falling? Nope.

Ford EV sales are up in the US. Hyundai and Kia are up. BMW is up. Rivian,
Mercedes, Toyota, all up.

Read the story, and you'll have some fresh-ground grist for your next water
cooler EV discussion.
