Actually, I took the time to edit my profile just so I could reply to
this topic. Apparently, the listserv hates DreamHost (among others),
which is the SMTP server for my outgoing mail for my domain. I think
Lee and others have had similar problems.

I'd really prefer a tour of a sewer to being subjected to Facecrook,
but then the subject matter suggested wouldn't be enough to make me
bother clicking Mother Theresa's web site, either.
A couple of month ago, I was having lunch in town, discussing an
upcoming project with one of my long-time clients. When I pulled into
the parking lot, there was a white Tesla "3" (that's "E" backtards
according to Musk) parked at the end of the spaces in front of the
restaurant. Now normally, I would park next to this car given the
chance of an open space, maybe parked just a little too close,
probably not so close that those huge, handleless doors wouldn't open
wide enough to let the passenger in, but close... No, I parked a few
cars down and had to get out in the middle of a huge lake of leftover
rainwater.
I was facing the street, eating, when I saw an out-of-state mini-van
pull in and park next to me, disgorging a middle-aged couple. They
immediately took an interest in my dowdy EV conversion, looking in
the windows and having an animated conversation punctuated by
pointing and polite laughter. Out came the phones and they took
selfies standing next to my car. I found this pretty entertaining, as
the Tesla was being furiously ignored, and my 41-year-old factory
conversion was the star of the parking stalls.
It wasn't my intention to accost these EV worshippers, so after they
ambled off, and lunch was done, I expected to make a silent getaway.
Turned out that the were just exiting a nearby storefront as I
reached the car. Of coure, they asked all the usual questions and I
gave them the practiced tour. How many Tesla owners have shown
curious passersby their battery or controller?
Since then, each time I see one of those Teslamobiles, I give out a
long, faux yawn: "Oh sooo boring". The damned things are like
sparrows or starlings anymore, so many as to be non-special. How many
people get excited when they see a new Buick (Subuaru, Honda, BMW, etc)?
At one point some time back, I was looking to have the body work and
paint done on my car, but I've kind of decided that it would be like
repainting Whistlers Mother in a modernist style with day-glo colors.
I'm comfortable with my dings and dents and a car that doesn't spy on
me or take away my FM radio without asking.
