Agreed, and that isn't what I said, anyway.
If one was in the mood to split hairs on the subject, it would be
accurate to point out that EV fuel isn't delivered in bulk by
tractor-trailer rigs before being distributed. This alone would
likely put them in the "least damage" category as far as road wear.

This falls right into my thinking! Recurring DMV fees are nothing but
a revenue collection system for the bureaucrats that hand out the
papers and plates. Set up stringent penalties for registrants that
don't keep their information on file current and accurate, then lay
off many of the needless paper-pushers working towards a fat
retirement, or transfer them into a position that actually
accomplishes something useful! Maybe they could get jobs working in
an EV's-only car wash.
