I gave up on chain drive a long time ago.  Belt-drive is so, so much better.  
This is just one of a zillion problems it doesn’t have.

You’re presumably going to need to move your freewheel to the cranks then, 
which is certainly possible, but it’s not an off-the-shelf part.
