% This post is meant to be an update on several things/topics I've come across that could be useful to EVangels. 1st EV newswire status: Cool today, hot tamale ... In-between the junk items, the useful EV news items are trickling in, and then for a couple of days out of the week (after an auto show) the newswires get hot and heavy (its still a feast or famine item feed). I try to pace how much evdl bandwidth I use to not clog anyone's intray. Hopefully I've struck a balance that hasn't raised anyone's ire, yet still keeps members informed. Koch Bros EV-bashing seems to ebb and flow. Right now, it is ebbing in the u.s.a. But, I look at EV items around the world. Currently, OZ(gov.au) is having a row(tussle) ... I've seen this type of do-and-say anything to throw fear-of-EVs at the public, in several different countries' media. Looks like an automaker trend to have their China-made EVs sold worldwide, will be implemented ... I found more items relating to why TMC released its non-EV patents ... We've been a bit resistant to going back into EVs - you'll remember we used to be into them heavily in the 1990s with the EV RAV, which was pushed strongly in California ... https://resources.stuff.co.nz/content/dam/images/1/u/l/y/o/2/image.related.StuffLandscapeSixteenByNine.1240x700.1ul1lf.png/1554754860425.jpg In the past I've harped(shown-disdain) for (public-channel) media outlets that have spewed their EV-ignorance/anti-EV views/bias. To me, if the media person states fears, misinformation first before an interview, it sets the whole tone for the public's take on the piece, no-matter how much the interviewee tries to correct or straighten the damage-done (its like first puking/spitting-up all over the persons shoes, and then the viewing public still has to smell that stench throughout the piece (IMO that's just wrong). In this piece broadcast on PBS stations' SciTech now programs ... Cathy Zoi, CEO of EVgo joins Hari Sreenivasan to discuss this growing need and industry ... ] ... Hari Sreenivasan of NY's WLIW 21 [ https://www.wnet.org/about/contact/ ] spoke as EV-ignorant as the media was in the 1990's: "Right now it is still the land of nerds, treehuggers, & technologists that are really interested ... ... battery technology that hasn't advanced that much ... (smurk) I feel sure that Sreenivasan had heard of all the EV efforts the NY state government, and NY city have been making. For him to taint the interview like that is just one more example of how so-called public-channel media types are definitely not pro-EV. I feel EVgo CEO Cathy Zoi did a good job to state their company's position, and to try to correct the spew Sreenivasan started off with. She mentioned that EVs will grow to 2.5M drivers on the road in next 3yrs. That there is a national build-out of EVgo l3&2 EVSE for early adopters that live in apt's, which don't have garages, or for are ride-share EV drivers, that will need to have charging away from their home. She also tried to enlighten Sreenivasan that their l3 EVSE will recharge in 30-45min, that the charge times/speed is limited by how much the battery can take. Sreenivasan wrongly stated: a gas pump takes 30-45sec to get 100mi. She said: Is 15 or 10min fast enough? She countered with their 30mins @L3 allows drivers to go shopping. Below are a couple items on the topic that the speed of recharging is battery limited ... I won't bore you w/ a lot of details. I am scheduled for mid May to have my thyroidectomy. Recently, arthritic pain in my right shoulder stopped my using that arm for several days.
