[IST] The Honda Fit EV has been spotted in the Indian market. The Fit EV has
been rebadged as the "Honda Jazz" and has been spotted on the streets of
Delhi by News18. The Fit EV is based on the second-generation Fit hatchback
in the international market. This is the same hatchback which is sold as the
Jazz for the Indian market by Honda Cars.

The Honda Fit EV can easily be confused for the Indian-spec Jazz, however,
the electric hatchback does come with a few differences to separate the two.
In terms of design, the Fit EV comes with a unique front fascia, shark-fin
antenna, unique 15-inch alloy wheels and a distinctive rear spoiler which
extends downwards alongside the rear glass which helps differentiate it from
the Jazz. honda jazz electric spy pics The Honda Fit EV uses a MCF3 electric
motor with a 331-volt, 20kWh lithium-ion battery. The electric hatchback is
said to have a driving range of 225km on a single charge. The Fit EV comes
with a standard charging port on the right side and a fast-charging port on
the left side. The standard charging port takes roughly six hours to charge
the batteries completely.

The fast-charging option, on the other hand, is capable of charging the
batteries up to 80 per cent in just 20 mins.

Honda is said to be working on an all-electric EV for the Indian market.
However, the electric car will come under the B-segment and will not be
based on the Jazz. Another low-cost electric vehicle is under consideration,
which would provide a range between 150 - 200km and is expected to be
introduced only by 2023, at the earliest. honda jazz electric spy pics

The Honda Fit EV spotted on the streets of Delhi, could just be here for
initial testing, validation and data logging. The Honda Jazz electric,
however, will be launched in the Chinese market, for an approximate price of
Rs 16 lakh, ex-showroom. Honda also expects to sell around 10,000 EVs in the
market every year.

Thoughts On The Honda Jazz Electric
Honda is yet to make an announcement regarding their EV plans for the Indian
market. However, with spy images of the Fit EV doing the rounds, it might be
possible that the Japanese company might be considering an EV for the Indian
market. Apart from Honda, Maruti Suzuki is also currently working on
introducing its first EV in the market, based on the WagonR.
