Oh boy, here we go again. :-\ Just who paid for the production costs of those professionally made video presentations, hmmm? "Fuel" should definitely be in quotation marks, because hydrogen really isn't one. You don't pump it out of the ground. It's derived from other fuels. H2 does have the potential to store energy from PV, but unfortunately the efficiency of electrolysis is atrocious. And then you have to transport it just like other fuels. And you lose even more efficiency in transport than you do with real fuels. Unless some kind of miracle happens, H2 just isn't a winner, IMO. > it takes too long to recharge an EV Maybe not for long. Competition is starting to build for the fastest charge time. A couple of months ago, Porsche said they plan to develop their own high speed charging network for their forthcoming EVs. Their goal is to charge to 80% in 15 minutes. I expect that Tesla will take that as a challenge. Whether other EV makers will follow remains to be seen, however. > and that hydrogen offers the convenience of a quick refuel; similar to > an ICE refill. More importantly (though not for us), it offers the petroleum companies a chance to retain full control over vehicle fueling infrastructure. The idea that EV drivers can harness energy from the sun via PV, store it at home, and refuel their vehicles without ever giving money to the oil companies must annoy them no end.
