Well, to be clear, whether you wish to drive for 2 hours or 4, you'll need density of at least 100 miles. Probably more like 40-50 miles. After all, there are other factors besides driving exactly 2 hours that determine where you may want to stop. Some density is needed.

I realize some people will want to stop more often and do 10 minute opportunity charges. As much as I respect that, I think that expecting private enterprise to cater to that tiny segment of the overall population, or spending large amounts of public funds to that end, is not realistic.

Having DF Fast Chargers every 100 miles instead of every 200 miles is a nice medium, in that it allows people to stop every 2 hours if they wish, (plus supports 40 kWh battery pack cars, instead of requiring every car to have an 80 kWh pack).

And it provides some redundancy for "long range drivers". If one DC Fast charger is down (or in use) your 80 kWh battery pack car could just drive on to the next one.
