Recently the usage rate of rented electric cars in downtown Shanghai is four times a day on average, a bit higher than that in Jiading, said Cao Guangyu, deputy general manager of Shanghai International Automobile Town. Currently there are nine service stations downtown, mainly near office buildings, hotels and department stores. There are few parking spaces and Metros are very crowded at peak times, so the demand for rented cars is high. The situation is also true in Jiading as the top five most frequently visited service stations are Jiading Campus of Tongji University, Life Hub Plaza, Automobile City Building, Shanghai Automobile Exhibition Center and Jiashi Life Plaza. From January to November, 6,200 users visited the service station at Jiading Campus of Tongji University. Among the top 20 service stations, 70 percent are near office buildings, hotels and shopping malls. An electric bus program began in Jiading in November, providing free commutes between Tongji University Jiading Campus and Hongqiao Airport as well as Jiading Industrial Zone. According to an officer from the automobile city, the rental fee of Zinoro 1E will be 60 yuan ($9.2) per hour with a maximum of 360 yuan a day. The officer said that this cooperation is part of their efforts to improve the quality of rental service and to meet consumers' demands for upscale e-cars.
