I generally use the AH as my "gas gauge".
The way it's setup, it's 0 when the pack is fully charged, and counts UP as you 
drive.  I know that my "empty" is around 140AH.

Note that it has a couple of relays that can be programmed to turn on/off based 
on voltage, current, or AH values.
