As the slashdot link in the thread's first post explains (or tries to), DMARC was the >exact< cause of our problems. It broke many other lists too. That's why we needed the software change. Maybe the reason the DMARC debacle didn't affect you directly is that your email is most likely handled by a private mailserver at enviropolicy.com. It hit AOL, ATT/Yahoo, and the various MS mail services. It's also possible that you weren't aware because some of the lists affected apparently chose not to publicize the problem. Even some list subscribers using AOL, ATT/Yahoo and MS addresses didn't catch on, because they were still receiving SOME posts. They were just missing posts from other people sharing the same mail service. So if the list admin didn't say anything, you might never have known.
