Exactly. This is the by-product of the software changes that had to be made almost a year ago. The whole sad story is here : http://www.evdl.org/archive/index.html#nabble-td4669318 The best answer is to edit the TO field and delete the original poster before you hit send. With a desktop or laptop this is pretty easy, a quick mouse swipe and delete key. It's a bit more of a hassle with a phone or tablet. (I dunno about you, but I consider those keyboardless gadgets more for entertainment and reading than for any significant amount of writing anyway.) That said, the list filter that holds messages with extra addresses does understand about the list software dumping in the address of the person you're replying to, so it allows for that. Where we get into trouble most of the time are just a few cases - = Someone adds an extra name in the CC or TO field, thinking that he's doing the original poster a favor by addressing him directly (he's not really doing that person a favor at all). = Someone wants to post to multiple lists and puts them all in the TO and/or CC fields. The EVDL server just won't accept that, unfortunately, apparently being kind of a jealous sort. :-\ = Someone writes to friends and then thinks the list might like a copy too. Basically, what the server prefers is for you to put ev at lists dot evdl dot org - and nothing else - in the TO field, and nothing in the CC field. It will ACCEPT ev at lists dot evdl dot org AND the address of the post you're replying to, both in the TO field (the usual default). If you put anything else in the CC field, it'll have fits. But as long as it gets email addressed as above, you can put anything else you want in the BCC field. I hope that all makes sense. Ah, for the good old days before spam got so bad, when email was simple. Those were also the days before web forums had to have captchas and multiple signup verifications and restricted posting rights for newbies and whole staffs of moderators and all that stuff. But don't get me started on what the net was like around 1996-2000. I could go on for furlongs. :-( David Roden EVDL Administrator http://www.evdl.org/ _______________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www.evdl.org/help/index.html#usub http://lists.evdl.org/listinfo.cgi/ev-evdl.org For EV drag racing discussion, please use NEDRA (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NEDRA)
