I am not sure you want to have unbroken thousand mile transmission. If for no other reason than it lacks flexibility. Shorter segments allow you to tap some here and raise the level of a lake or respond to a heat wave there. The if you need power somewhere far away the delivery can be like one of those desktop hanging ball toys.
