I got an invite to test drive a BMW i3. There are a number of questionable or unbelievable or truth stretchers in their brochure3. Truth 22kWh battery Questionable “Up to 190 miles per charge” Are they using magic juice in the battery? This is 8.7 miles per kWh, or is this a convenient forgetting of the range extender “Drive 300 miles for $12 of electricity” (no mention of how many recharges, at least 2 or run on gas) Around here, $12 of electricity is around 100kWh. Have they discovered how to squeeze 100kWh into a 22 kWh battery, or conveniently leaving out the range extender and it is really the generator converts gasoline to electricity for the vehicle. I find their ad deceptive and sometime that will actually hurt EV’s when the general public learns better On Friday, May 2, 2014 7:03 PM, brucedp5 <[email protected]> wrote: http://www.carscoops.com/2014/04/bmw-invites-people-to-test-drive-i3.html BMW Invites People to Test-Drive the i3, Films their Reactions April 29, 2014 By Dan Mihalascu [image http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ILGR7Up2zX4/U2AMkvbrImI/AAAAAAAQ7Wk/bJI0Xp089s4/s1600/Josh-Hartnett-BMW-i3-test-drive-0.jpg video http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=E337XA1a_74 The BMW i3 Experience BMWi· Apr 28, 2014 How does it feel to drive the all-electric BMW i3? http://www.TheBMWi3Experience.com ] BMW thought the best online advertising campaign for the i3 electric vehicle would be to record the genuine reactions of people test driving the car. The carmaker invited 45 teams (107 people in total) to test-drive a BMW i3 in Berlin, London and Madrid and filmed them during the drive. This resulted in over 30 hours of footage, from which the most entertaining scenes were extracted and edited for use on the online ad platform. The test-drivers were people with no prior experience of electric vehicles: couples, families, friends, students and co-workers, aged between 20 and 65. Even a Hollywood star, American actor and producer Josh Hartnett, who was also filmed during his first BMW i3 experience. “We realised right away, after the first test-drives, that we should utilize the excitement of BMW i3 test-drivers for a really authentic and unique form of communication,” said Dr. Steven Althaus, head of BMW Brand Management and Marketing Services BMW Group. That’s because BMW believes un-staged situations and unscripted dialogue “convey the authentic reactions and enthusiasm of drivers and their passengers.” [© 2014 Carscoop & Carscoops] ... http://www.bmwblog.com/2014/04/29/bmw-i3-online-campaign-peers-test-drivers-shoulders/ For all EVLN posts use: http://electric-vehicle-discussion-list.413529.n4.nabble.com/template/NamlServlet.jtp?macro=search_page&node=413529&query=evln&sort=date EVLN: eBay Garage Publicity Stunt Gives Away Tesla-S EV http://transportevolved.com/2014/04/29/ebay-gives-away-brand-new-tesla-model-s-ebay-garage-publicity-stunt/ EVLN: Maryland announces state-wide rapid L3 EVSE network http://evfleetworld.co.uk/news/2014/Apr/Maryland-announces-state-wide-electric-vehicle-rapid-charging-network/0438014114 EVLN: Why utilities MUST take on EV charging themselves http://www.smartgridnews.com/artman/publish/End_Use_Electric_Transportation/Why-utilities-MUST-take-on-EV-charging-themselves-and-the-right-way-to-do-it-6495.html EVLN: $89k OSHA fine> 11/2013 accident @Tesla Fremont, CA facility http://www.insidebayarea.com/news/ci_25677720/exclusive-tesla-motors-faces-89-000-fines-incident + EVLN: $41,450 Mercedes Small EV To Compete with BMW i3 EV {brucedp.150m.com} -- View this message in context: http://electric-vehicle-discussion-list.413529.n4.nabble.com/EVLN-BMW-Invites-Films-People-s-Reactions-to-i3-Test-Drives-video-tp4669347.html Sent from the Electric Vehicle Discussion List mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www.evdl.org/help/index.html#usub http://lists.evdl.org/listinfo.cgi/ev-evdl.org For EV drag racing discussion, please use NEDRA (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NEDRA) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
