Hello everybody,
sorry for the delay, but I wanted to give you an update to our e10s
problem at least.
Meanwhile we found out, that not only the localfilelinks, altough
local html files (on filesystem not on server) do not work
correctly.
When opening a html file on a local drive ff shows
Sadly, I'm not able to reproduce the issue by simply setting
extensions.e10sBlockedByAddons set to false, because at some
installations local html files altough work with e10s enabled too.
Otherwise there are many installations with problems when e10s is
enabled in every case until now, it worked to set
extensions.e10sBlockedByAddons to true.
It seems that there could be an interdependency between e10s and our
problems, but it seems that simply activating e10s is not the only
condition to be considered. Maybee there is only some special
constellation in which it doesn't work.
Best regards
Sebastian Metzger

It's normal that browser.tabs.remote.separateFileUriProcess
does not exist in Firefox 54 (and probably with 52esr). It has
to be added as a new boolean setting (as explained on bugzilla).
In any case, this might be a totally different issue.

Hi,
@Mossrey:
thanks for your answer. I looked for the bug, but it seems 52ESR
or of course 52.0.2 is really not affected.
Regardless e10s is activated or deactivated, the file show the
content and no error is displayed in the console.
I wanted to give your workaround
browser.tabs.remote.separateFileUriProcess a try, but this
option isn't even available in 52esr.
@Phil:
Thanks for the tip. There are quiet few addons in my list,
marked as not compatible so far.
Best regards

Hi,
The symptoms are really close to this bug I opened : https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1374395
(regarding accessing local files through XHR with Firefox
54).
One workaround is to disable e10s, but you might want to
try the other workaround, which is to set
browser.tabs.remote.separateFileUriProcess to true.
They marked it as fixed in Firefox 55.
However, they marked version 52 ESR as "unaffected". Maybe
you could check with the testcase? Because if it's really
affected, we should ask to backport the fix to the ESR
branch too.

Hello everybody,
we are using localfilelinks to open documents on file shares
directly from our wiki-webpages.
We set the following entries in prefs.js:
user_pref("capability.policy.localfilelinks.checkloaduri.enabled",
"allAccess");
user_pref("capability.policy.localfilelinks.sites", "https://wiki-page.de");
user_pref("capability.policy.policynames",
"localfilelinks");
After the update to ESR52 we noticed, that some users can't
use this links anymore.
They see the following error-page:
![]()
translation: fileAccessDenied
We then realized that all users with e10s enabled get the
error, but some users (including me) had the pref:
extensions.e10sBlockedByAddons set to true and therefore
e10s disabled and we can still use the links.
I assume that Selenium or SQLite-Manager is causing my
disabled e10s.
Therefore it seems that there is a interdependency between
enabled e10s and configured localfilelinks.
I know that localfilelinks is only tolerated and was
re-integrated in one of the last esr's.
We try to convince our users not to use it, but you know...
as long as there is a way (and there is one -> deactivate
e10s) users will use it.
Can anybody confirm this or has a solution?
Best regards
