Found this in my junk folder just now.

I wonder how the bananapi-m5 might work with my setup, with a 7i90HD

I was unable to find any stock PREEMPT_RT kernel for armbian on BPi-M5
(6.10/6.11 seem lastest kernels). Without real-time you probably get
lost in jitter and delays.
Maybe you can make your own, but that requires some effort. I've read
others putting some effort into building a PREEMPT_RT kernel for
armbian, but I couldn't find a "done deal" recipe to get it working
(only very shallow search performed).
More than I expected.
'twouldn't be the first time I've built my own. I used that particular
model because all 4 usb ports are usb3, and I note the latest pi is
still stuck at 2 of the fast ones, and two slow ones. I actually have
one of them setup as a possible backup system with an 11T raid 6, all 5
of those drives are on startech usb3 adapters plugged into a pair of all
usb3 hubs. Amanda is dead, no support from BETSOL (big hat but no
cattle) since 2023, so I'm looking for another backup solution.
I made it another year at around 7AM local time. I'm now 91 yo.
Congrats!
Thank you Bertho, and thank you for the previous support. Very Much
Appreciated.
Cheers, Gene Heskett, CET.
