The Bergerda AC Servo when connected to a Pot varying the voltage can turn ever 
so slowly with a really low voltage.  Like 1 RPM.   It also has a parameter 
that is set to the minimum A/D voltage that will start the motor turning so I 
agree, it's not a big deal.    I think the cheaper VFDs like my GS-1 probably 
don't even allow a very slow speed.

I suppose it depends on how slow one wants the spindle to turn.  My GS-1 starts 
turning at 2.8 RPM using the knob on the front.
