Well, I think there are two things that cause problems, if the hole is only a little bigger than the cutter. First, I think LinuxCNC requires the lead-in move (and lead-out, too) to be greater than the radius of the cutter. If you insist on a linear lead-in move that will be almost tangential to the desired hole, it gets real hard to find a good point to start the lead-in from. An arc move for the lead-in should solve this.

But, I still don't understand why you need to do this with cutter radius comp?
