Neat, Roland, thanks for the links. But that would depend on a rather
precise swing mount, and I'd still assume a direct electrical contact.
OTOH, a swing mount on preloaded ball bearings could be just as
repeatable, with a spring loaded up or down stop. Or possibly driven by
a teeny windshield wiper motor. I have one out of a window winder thats
just the right size I'll consider it once I get it moving under its own
power.

All of which is enticing, for sure.

Getting the camera to work seems to be problematic even with the new
software driver. If the image on screen ever expands so it touches the
cameras native resolution it goes byby until LCNC is restarted again.
Does it with 3 different cameras I've tested.

I'm thinking, ignore the grinding noise. :) However I mount the probe, it
should key its mount to the motor else it will need recalibration
everytime its moved to get it completely out of the way.

Thanks Roland.
