Thanks Marius. Or as I just found -1 for both works, as does a x=0 and
z=1. I don't have the box assembled enough to take it to the lathe and
hook up what I do have working yet.

The 5v psu came in today, but I must have clicked on the wrong one, its a
9-15 volt AC input, so I went back and found the line powered version of
the same supply, an about 55% of the same price. Probably Monday
delivery. In the meantime, get off my duff and finish up the encoder
over the weekend. I have to make a small, curved pcb to serve as an
anchor and junction between the encoder and the cable. Then I cannot
delay moving the box to within reach of the cables as that will be the
final arbiter calibration between requested speed and what I asked for.
But I need to round up another section of that 1.5" square tubing to
make that mount first. ( after I check in the woodshed. There could be a
piece in there I've forgotten about in the 15 years since I made the 6
pocket block mold to pour 300 some of the retaining wall blocks in) The
encoders speed output is as accurate as the ntp locked clock, which the
r-pi is I assume using. The gear its watching has 60 teeth, aka 240
edges a rev or 1.5 degrees of rotation per edge of an A/B/X encoder. g76
and g33.1 anybody?
