Greetings all;

Assumeing I have the tapered thread I want, can I continue that thread
without the taper if I don't change the Z resting point while its
waiting for an index pulse and motion.spindle-at-speed true.

What I would like to have is the ability to unscrew the bearing axial
pre-load nut back into the tapered section because the threads are in
synch. There will of course be a tapered nut cut to fit the tapered
thread causing that section to collapse and grip the X screw. But I
overshot the bore size, so when I make that nut, the taper will be
increased from 7 degrees overall to 8 degrees to better match the
6 "petals" I'll make by EDM, so the actual taper matches better when
they are collapsed onto the end of the screw.

Are these two routines sufficiently similar to pull this off if the Z
starting point is not moved and the K#<_tpmm> is not changed?

Thanks for any guidance. This is something that cannot be seen in the
backplot, at any magnification, hence the question.

But we could see it if there were a way to synch the backplot update with
the index pulse. That, obviously, would need faster gfx by a factor of
at least 10 over what I'm getting to catch every index pulse.

But its still on my wish list. ;-)

Cheers, Gene Heskett
