Apparently it is not that simple, it changes the icon, but not the effect. So I restored the icon to check, and the resultant effect for Mauve.png was still a color negation of some sort, turning me "burple" and my grey t- shirt that says "Don't rush me, I get paid by the hour" sort of a faded green. ??? I have also joined the blog/forum of the author, Alissio, and posted the question there, but no reply yet in about 16 hours. Perhaps he can help, but I get the impression he is mainly a windows user and likely knows nothing about cheese.
