Peter, Andy, Gene & Ray: Thank you for the great feedback. After a little more fiddling I took Andy's suggestion and inverted the step output in Stepper Configuration Wizard. All your comments pointed in this direction but Andy hit it dead on. A little work to get everything going in the right direction and I have a working system.
After I got it working I went back and fiddled with the PCI parallel port card. I got it to work using I/O 0x1030. So I now have a backup parallel or a whole lot more I/O. Thanks. Even got the backlash compensation working.
