I was thinking about this when I found out my cross slide nut was stripped and they had rigged the lathe to use the backlash compensating nut. But fortunately I could just bore out the nut holder and put a brass nut in there. If I do it again, I might just buy a matching lead screw and swap both at the same time. There really isn't anything to the lead screw, it's more generic than the nut.
