There is an industry-standard system for naming carbide inserts. You can look them up in Machinery's Handbook, or a number of manufacturer's catalogs. Some of the letters actually mean something, like T=triangular, S=square, R=round, etc. N is usually negative rake, P=positive, G for ground, U for unground.
