Ahhh.. old controls.... I know of a another lathe that does this.. intermittently stops during a run for no apparent reason.. sometimes simply hangs .. requiring a power off restart.. I think that the phase of the moon and the rising vs falling barometer may also be to blame. ;-) Also deteriorating capacitors, marginal power supplies. Like you say, grab good data when you can, as things will not get better. :-) Dave On 4/14/2012 5:17 AM, Roger Holmquist wrote: > The Storebro project is proceeding. > Some measurements wil soon be presented on my site because they are part of > low level motor control and should therefore be of general interest for the > group. > The related electronics drawings are there already. > > The machine magically started to function again during testing, I suspect the > reason is I was just fiddling with the cards and it's connectors who sometimes > may cause you trouble as I'm sure most of you know. > So now I know who some signals looks like when the Lathe is healthy and > that's good of course. > Problem is, I believe the malfunction will return sooner or later but now I > have a reference and that's great. > > > > > >> I had been fighting with IGES conversion to CATIA or >> Autocad since about 1995 and never got anything satisfying out of it. >> Forget it if you want to be productive. >> > Well, this is a production issue because one of SMPs customers delivered iges > files with pdf-versions of their drawings. > I have in fact found a plotting SW for iges who plots the details nicely in > wireframe and solid modes but creating milling paths > from iges would be nice. > > > >> What about your lathe: "broken" seems to signify some electric defect? >> Lathes don't "break" apart. >> >> Peter >> > > >> Roger, >> hur star det till? >> > Tack, det är bra, anställningsplanerna rullar på! > > > >> Roger Holmquist schrieb: >> >>> Done some more jobs on the CNC-Lathe. >>> - Installed LinuxCNC2 on my mac by VirtualBox. >>> - Found http://IGSViewer.com for plotting and study 3d-part-files in >>> IGES-format, in wireframe and solid modes, great SW! >>> - Lathe broken, Main spindle not running, scematics at site... >>> - Yes, some CAM SW would be fine to have, putting AutoCAD drawings in and >>> G-code out... >>> BTW, converting iges-files to AutoCAD seem to be a project of it's own if >>> you don't want to pay $$$ for untested SW... >>> >> > > > ************************** > > > >> Kent: >> > >> Does it have to be AutoCAD, Roger?
