The control is a trickle feed (300 bps) or paper tape I understand.  I don't
have 3 phase, so I was thinking of converting the control side so I could
run it single phase (shouldn't be too hard) and the installing a VFD for the
spindle, which I want to do anyway.

Thanks for the input.  I think it will pretty much depend on what I can get
the unit for - I'm not willing to pay extra for a BOSS control that works,
because it's of limited utility, and I'm familiar with EMC already.  If I
rebuild the controls, I know how to debug them more effectively.

Given the comparisons, I'm looking at the Tree 425, Bridgeport series 1 and
II's, and a shizuoka AN.  It's quite a range there, but the knee mills just
seem a little easier to fit into the garage. ;)
