I tend to agree with Colin. I reused the steppers and drivers on my mill: http://www.wallacecompany.com/machine_shop/Shizuoka/ I got the mill, tool changer and some tooling for just under $2k (during the height of the bubble). The conversion was nearly free. If your mill has steppers, I would try to do the same kind of conversion to save money, then convert to new servos when or if the budget can be justified. If the mill has servos, I would tend to fit the screws with new encoders and go with Pico's PWM drivers and one of the parallel port FPGA's signal generators. If you can post pictures, it would help a lot. -- Kirk Wallace http://www.wallacecompany.com/machine_shop/ http://www.wallacecompany.com/E45/index.html California, USA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ What You Don't Know About Data Connectivity CAN Hurt You This paper provides an overview of data connectivity, details its effect on application quality, and explores various alternative solutions. http://p.sf.net/sfu/progress-d2d _______________________________________________ Emc-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
