I believe that this would be possible for EMC2 too, it would even be
possible to add an auto-measure (for length at least) to the manual
toolchanger, I think. (Or to any other toolchanger routine). ie,
before any toolchange the machine drives to the safe position (already
part of EMC2), then when the operator changes the tool and presses
"OK" the machine drives to a fixed position (G53) and probes the tool
length, before returning to the "safe" position and resuming the job.
