Yes and there are others that build similar devices. There are some limitations to the quality of the dc signal that depends upon the quality of the converter and the way that it handles both rapid and very slow motions.
We had this issue with the Mazak we converted as a group during CNC-Workshops. The Fanuc 6M control synthesized a tach signal for the drives from motor encoders. There was no tach generators on the motors. Rather than trying to create such a signal from EMC2 we swapped out the old Fanuc drives with new drives and ran these current mode. JohnK worked on tuning for a couple days and axis motion was as smooth as any I've worked with.
