Hi Greg - that's the old buggy version, last updated 2007. There have
been several versions since then, but they didn't update Hardy, only
Jaunty and Karmic. The "latest" fixed one is 1:1.2.1-1
Fix log shows
xserver-xorg-input-mutouch (1:1.2.0-3) unstable; urgency=medium
* Cherry-pick one more fix from upstream: Fix calculation of
coordinates
with inverted axes. Thanks to Fernando Vicente for the report and
the
patch.

Maybe anything after 1:1.2.0-3 is OK? But will those newer versions work
with Hardy?

That's got inverted axis also - check out the bug reports on that page.
