Hi all!

I have been monitoring this list for several yoars and also been
planning my milling machine for too long,
but I do have an old milling machine converted and up and running with
EMC2 step/dir.

My new machine will require two motors on each axis, XXYYZZ A and B
This will be a 3 axis portal machine with a 2 axis rotary head.
I have 2 mesa 5I20 boards and 2x7I33 and 2x7I33, pobably I need another
pair of 7I37 or Anders Wallins breakout boards.

My servodrives are Bosch/Rexroth Indramat DKC01-1 wich are analog input
ac servo drives( can be used with step/dir as well).
The motors have absolute encoder emulation or incremental.

I know it is possible to run EMC with two motors on one axis, but the
tricky part seems to be the homing.

Is there any possibility for EMC to use absolute encoders, so instead of
homing at startup you load the actual
positions from the servidrives?
The drive documentation says:
"The NC-control system which is connected must have a SSI input and be
able to process SSI data in 25-bit format."

If this does not work, has anybody any suggestions on how to do homing
with 2 motors on one axis?

It might be possible to use the internal homing function of the
servodrives, this requires a homing signal from EMC
and will respind "homed" on a separate signal.
Can the homing function in EMC be configured just to send a home signal
on one pin and receive a homed signal
on another pin, and then reset the coordinates?

Thanks for all the fantastic work you all are doing for EMC!

Best Regards!
Lars Levin
