Sorry, I should have mentioned it's on the Ubuntu
machine. If the package is downloaded throught the package manager,
the package manager keeps tabs on the software and ensures you have
the latest and greatest version (though that's not necessarily always
a good thing). If you download the package on one machine, transfer
it to another, that opens up some other problems. If the software
installs itself as a stand alone piece of software, the package
manager won't see it and won't try to keep it updated. If you can
install it under a package manager, you have to determine how the
software must be installed, based on the extension of the file
name. A .pkg extension is installed a bit differently than is a .deb
extension.
The first question I should have asked, is your Ubuntu
computer connected to a network? If so, does that network have
internet access? If it does, just go to the Ubuntu computer, bring
up the Synaptic package manager, find the QCad package, and download
and install through the package manager. If it's not connected to a
network, we have some more work to do.
