Hi Dan, Ray: I hate to admit it but I've been bitten by various unexplainable things because I needed a couple more cups of coffee. Setting G49 to cancel tool offset in your entry code is usually a good idea just like setting G40 is. If you use a G43Hxx then the xx and the tool table will determine your Z offset. Unless you have a very stable tool table it would seem to be a pain to let your CAM insert those lengths. But then everyone adapts to what works in their shop with the machines and software they have. Let's hope you've overcome most of the randomness. ;-)
