The Scope section of a directive/regulation, and especially the “Whereas” clauses at the beginning, are good sources when you’re trying to figure out whether you’re covered and why.

And the footnotes can have a few good nuggets, too!

Happy New Year to all on this list!

Hi Brian,

The GPSR is a catch-all for products not covered by other Directives or Regulations.  I would think that if your product is already covered by other Directives and/or Regulations (LVD, EMC, RED, MD, etc.) you are covered.

Happy New Year,

Dan

Subject: [PSES] New EU Regulation, GPSR

Hello compliance colleagues,

I've just been informed that the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) is replacing GPSD, which I knew nothing about.

So, mostly this is a head's up to others that this is coming:

Here's a quick rundown of my take after perhaps 15 min speed read and a video or two.  This appears to be an effort to close the loops, gaps and exceptions that were allowed with current CE labelling and compliance.   The labeling regs seem a little new to me, but I think anybody with a decent CE file that's been recorded by a solid EAR (EU Authorized Representative), is already covered.   My firm has a good CE "TCF" file, and I've asked our EAR to confirm that we're already covered for GPSR.

Here's my one question:  is my quick take accurate?

Colorado Brian
