Hi Ryan,
For the radio module that you describe, the following standards are applicable:
ETSI EN 300 328 V2.2.2
(https://www.etsi.org/deliver/etsi_en/300300_300399/300328/02.02.02_60/en_300328v020202p.pdf)
is the applicable standard listed in the OJEU for data transmission equipment
operating in the 2.4 GHz band to demonstrate compliance with the essential
requirements of RED article 3.2
(https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/HTML/?uri=CELEX:32014L0053&from=EN#d1e975-62-1),
as required in RED article 17(3)
cf. Annex A of this standard.
ETSI EN 301 489-17 V3.2.4
(https://www.etsi.org/deliver/etsi_en/301400_301499/30148917/03.02.04_60/en_30148917v030204p.pdf)
together with its part 1 ETSI EN 301 489-1 V2.2.3
(https://www.etsi.org/deliver/etsi_en/301400_301499/30148901/02.02.03_60/en_30148901v020203p.pdf)
is the applicable standard for such equipment to demonstrate compliance with
the essential requirements of RED article 3.1(b) for EMC
(https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/HTML/?uri=CELEX:32014L0053&from=EN#d1e975-62-1),
as required in RED article 17(2)
cf. Annex A of these standards.
EN 62479
(https://standards.cencenelec.eu/dyn/www/f?p=CENELEC:110:::::FSP_PROJECT,FSP_ORG_ID:57797,1258483&cs=1CEFF57465523E884A7F4B2BEF603E478)
is applicable to demonstrate compliance with the essential requirements of RED
article 3.1(a) for safety
(https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/HTML/?uri=CELEX:32014L0053&from=EN#d1e975-62-1),
as required in RED article 17(2)
Depending on the type of product, further safety standards will be applicable.
Kind regards,
Bernd

Dear Members,
We have a product being developed which will use a pre-approved radio which has
WiFi and Bluetooth.
The radio is a 2.4 GHz module with less than 10mW of transmit power
I am trying to determine to what RED standard(s) I must test the final product.
I posed this question to a local Southern California lab, and I was told they
were not allowed to answer as the manufacturer has to make that determination.
We have had other similar SRD products tested by various labs, before my time,
and some of them were tested to EN 300-440 and others to EN 301-489.
I have looked at this new radio’s FCC Grant and it doesn’t say what the
end-user must do-and same with the radio manufacturer, who cannot answer.
I even looked into the ERC Recommendation 70-03 and also the ETSI search tool
and could not find a definitive answer.
The radio is a 2.4 GHz module with less than 10mW of transmit power.
Any advise you can give me on will be much appreciated.
