It seems like RefTeX might be able to do it via the "xr" package and external references, where it is searching the exported LaTeX version of the document: http://www.xemacs.org/Documentation/packages/html/reftex_3.html#SEC35 This means that labels wouldn't be found until after export, but that seems like a minor inconvenience. -k.
