In your case it is simple - you did not maintain anything and did not
promise anything. So, I did not have expectations that you even need to
give a notice that you are unavailable. My statement about notice is
more relevant to contributor liaisons and the maintainers, who are
expected to do long-term commitment (which can be stopped any moment, of
course - with the notice I was talking about).

In any case, thanks for the update - you are indeed right about the
human nature 😀.
