Org 9.8 is not yet released.
orgmode.org website is showing the manual for the released Org 9.7
version, which is why it is not yet describing the new template element.
If you look at the manual source in git repository, you will see that we
do have \*N description:
https://cgit.git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/emacs/org-mode.git/tree/doc/org-manual.org#n8436

So, thanks for offering the fix, but there is nothing to fix in this
particular case :)

You do not need to be subscribed to post here. It is just that the
emails will come with a delay (human moderation) for non-subscribers the
first time.
