Nick, You use windows more than me :) I have no idea what shell it uses - but if it's the DOS shell the && above is never going to work. I have GNU Emacs 23.0.91.1 (i386-mingw-nt5.1.2600) of 2009-02-26 on LENNART-69DE564 (patched) here which I can try. I think this version uses the DOS shell and git which is installed on the system isn't available from this shell. Maybe I should just disable the git version for now on ms-dos, windows-nt, and cygwin since I don't know how to make it work reliably on windows.
