Let me reiterate. I was questioning your ORG-NEWS entry:

        > +=#+LATEX_CLASS_OPTIONS=, remember to set =#+LATEX_CLASS:= to

I do not understand why explicitly setting #+LATEX_CLASS to beamer is
necessary when you use LATEX_CLASS_OPTIONS. In my testing, with your
patch, it was not necessary.
