You misunderstood the email formatting. #+begin_example * test<POINT> #+end_example actually meant the following: 1. Create a new org file 2. Type (literally) the following: * test 3. You will get a file containing "* test" exactly, no newline at the end 4. Do _not_ save the file 5. Run C-c C-z and add some note Best, Ihor
