Hmmm... I'm using a very recent snapshot: GNU Emacs 23.0.91.1 (i486-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.14.4) of 2009-03-20 on hassium, modified by Debian ... and C-c/copy and C-x/cut work fine. The only CUA settings I have in my .emacs is: (cua-enable-cursor-indications t) (cua-enable-modeline-indications t) (cua-mode t nil (cua-base)) So it should absolutely work for you too.
