Hi Rainer,

it's true. The

   M-S left/right    (un/indent including children)

versus

   M left/right      (un/indent item on current line only)

behaviour is missing for plain lists. I believe it was in when I started
to use Org-mode. Is this feature gone for a reason?
Headlines still behave that way.

If it (still ?) was in, you could just add the first item and press

  M-S-right M-left

and that's it.
