The version is 6.22b.
What do you mean by "activated"? I'm regularly updating. On a second
computer, running ubuntu 8.10, I have 6.22trans, but the same problem
(no org-plot/gnuplot, when checking with M-x org- TAB).

6.22b is the most recent stable.
I run it and I have org-plot/gnuplot.
