message will still try to apply its quoting changes to the output of substitute-command-keys. While it does look like a hack, I think it's the easiest way to fix it and consistent with how it's been handled on Emacs's side (see, e.g., Emacs's 6cd2629 and Org's d77a52a). -- Kyle
