In defense of 2.7 five pole filter as a preferred choice please note that when comparing the filter attenuation curves, the 2.7 skirt has far better attenuation out a ways on the the slope. The 2.8 in that region has lots of responses in that region. Yes I know that Elecraft says that the DSP will handle every thing more than 30 DB down, and I believe them, but I feel more comfortable with the 2.7 vs the 2.8.
So my opinion is also to keep the 2.7 and spend the extra money on a 2.1 or 1.8 or 500 Hz filter.
