My experience with low band dx'ing on the Orion concurs with W4ZV's - particularly in noisy conditions. Instead of using a steep skirted 400hz filter, I found that using a broad skirted but nominally narrower (100-150hz) filter in DSP consistently did a better job pulling the weak sigs out of high noise on the Orion.
